Intel to Reduce Value-Line Desktop Chipset Production
August 12, 2005
Intel will temporarily reduce its low-end chip production for desktop PCs in the near future to focus on the higher end of the market, as PC demand is stronger than expected this year. The high utilization rates Intel is experiencing is forcing the company to cut some of its production. The company stated that demand for Centrino-notebook PCs is the strongest at the moment, and therefore it will give priority to the more profitable high-end chipsets used for these offerings.
