Samsung and LG Not Meeting Notebook Export Targets
July 28, 2005
Back in January 2005, Samsung and LG set 2005 export targets for their own branded notebook computers at one million units and 500,000 units respectively. Figures for the first half of the year show that Samsung exported 250,000 units, making it difficult to reach the original target for the whole year. Samsung also exported 250,000 ODM units, making for a total of 500,000 units in the first half of 2005, which means the company is on a better pace than in 2004 when it exported a total of 850,000 for the whole year. Samsung stated that it will increase its exports in the second half of 2005, with an estimated 450,000 own branded units and 250,000 ODM units. LG only exported 80,000 units of its own brand in the first half, with which it is on a better pace than in 2004, but which makes it very hard to reach their set target for the whole of 2005.
