Kolin, Matsushita Plan to Collaboratively Sell LCD TVs in Japan
July 15, 2005
Kolin and Matsushita have plans to expand their cooperation to the LCD TV field. Given that there is sufficient capacity on Kolin's LCD TV lines, Matsushita will outsource its branded LCD TVs to the Taiwanese maker for sales in the Japanese market. Kolin currently has a LCD TV line in Tainan Science Park that outputs LCD TVs at a rate of 30,000 units per month. However, the maker expects to kick off another line at its Guanyin plant by the end of July 2005. Addition of the new line will boost Kolin's total LCD TV monthly capacity to 55,000 units. For entry into the Southeast Asian market and admission into the AFTA ASEAN Free Trade Agreement, the Taiwanese player also hopes to set up flat CRT TV and LCD TV production lines at its Subic Bay base in the Philippines.
