FDK, a Japanese manufacturer of electronic materials and components, will be expanding its business into Korea as it has received an order from S-LCD to supply backlight inverter modules. The company will establish either a representative office or a sales firm. Its current goal for sales in Korea is set at 10 billion Yen a year. In the fiscal year 2005, which ends in March 2006, FDK expects sales to to S-LCD to reach 5-6 billion Yen. In the fiscal year 2005, which ended on March 31 2005, FDK's sales outside of Japan reached 52.7 million Yen, which amounted to 52% of its total sales. Sales in Asia stood at 40.4 billion Yen, with sales in China, Taiwan and Thailand accounting for the majority of this number.
