China Satcom Charges Telecom Market with First Mobile GPS Device

China Satcom showcased its first handheld GPS (Global Positioning System) device at the end of June 2005, as it makes aggressive moves into the telecommunications market. The device, codenamed NAV1000, inherits China Satcom's automotive navigation functionalities. It is an agglomeration of satellite positioning system, geographical information system, as well as multi-media PC. NAV1000 features real-time location service, map search, path planning, voice guide, and MP3 broadcasting.
