Chinese LCD Panel Makers Plan 2006 Ramp-up
June 24, 2005
BOE Hydis is planning on adding more LCD panel production lines in 2005, to double its overall monthly capacity to 60,000 units before the end of the year and to 85,000 units by the end of 2006. The maker is also evaluating possibilities of building a second factory dedicated to the production of sixth and seventh-generation LCD panels. BOE Hydis' existing line is now mass producing 17" and 19" LCD monitor panels, but plans are to kick off the mass production of 26" and 32" LCD TV panels. Another Chinese LCD panel maker, SVA NEC, currently mass-produces at a monthly rate of 45,000 substrates. However, the figure is to be raised to 52,000 units by March 2006.
