CPT Partners with Chinese CE Makers to Develop Local FPD TV Market
June 24, 2005
CPT is cooperating with Chinese consumer electronics makers, such as Haier, TCL, and Changhong, to aggressively carve into China's domestic market for flat panel displays. It will first test the market with 42" and 50" PDP TVs as well as 32" LCD TVs. Later, after finishing expanding its sixth-generation line, CPT will move in with a full line of flat panel TVs.

CPT's LCD module plant in Fuzhou launched into production in January 2005, at a monthly capacity of 250,000 units; yet the maker plans to lift the figure to 550,000 units by the end of 2005. The Fuzhou plant is mainly dedicated to outputting 15", 17", and 19" LCD monitor panels. However, CPT has saved space for monthly production of 200,000 LCD TV modules at the factory, allowing room for LCD TV final assembly in the future. The Taiwanese maker also has a monthly capacity of around one million LCD modules at its Wujiang plant. CPT's PDP TV capacity presently stands at 3,000 units per month, and is comprised mostly of 42" and 50" models.
