The Taiwanese company Kolin will partner with the
US channel player Syntax and enter its Olivia brand into the Chinese LCD television market. Kolin already entered the Chinese LCD television market at the beginning of 2005 with its own Kolin brand and it has sold more than 1,000 units of these LCD televisions in the first five months of 2005.
The Olivia brand has been very successful in the North American market, where Kolin and Syntax also worked together. In the first quarter of 2005, it was ranked third in terms of volume. At first, Kolin and Syntax plan to outsource production of Olivia LCD televisions in
China to local manufacturers. The next step for Kolin will be to set up its own production site in
China.
