TCL celebrated the opening of its new FPD (Flat Panel Display) TV production site in Huizhou, China, in early June 2005. The new FPD TV production base, said to be the biggest in China, is as large as 40 football fields, or 4,000 square feet, and will be used mainly for large-screen LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TV manufacturing. Annual FPD TV capacity at the site is set at 1.3 million units, boosting TCL's total capacity to over five million units. Besides this China-based site, TCL has three other large FPD production bases worldwide, located in Mexico, Poland, and Thailand.
