Display - Sumitomo Chemical, CDT to Form P-OLED Material JV
June 03, 2005
Japanese Sumitomo Chemical and CDT (Cambridge Display Technology) have decided to establish a 50-50 joint venture dedicated to the development and production of advanced P-OLED (Polymer ?Organic Light Emitting Diode) materials. The new Tokyo-based company, to be set up in early August of 2005, will have access to the two parent companies' P-OLED material related IPs (Intellectual Properties), including the polyfluorenes technology and the IP of the Lumation business, which Sumitomo Chemical recently acquired from Dow Chemical. While research activities will be carried out both in the UK and Japan, production is expected to take place solely in Japan.
