Foreseeing boost in demand for PDPs (Plasma Display Panels) in 2005, Asahi has decided to expand its PDP filter capacity by 60% before April 2005.

 

Additional equipment will be set up in Asahi's domestic Chiba plant and Aichi plant at a cost of 1.5 billion yen (US$14.1 million; US$1= 106.5 yen). The expansion is expected to bring Asahi's annual capacity from 2.5 million units to four million units.
