Projector lamp suppliers Philips and Osram are determined to nearly double combined capacity to five million units in 2005.

 

RPTV (Rear Projector TV) demand in 2004 was not met due to by lamp undersupply and lack of supply chain development. Bulb output increases from the two suppliers is expected relieve the supply issues and help ramp up growth in RPTV shipments.

 

Philips aims to boost lamp shipments two fold from 1.5 million units to three million units in 2005. Osram anticipates its automatic production line will launch in 2005, hoisting bulb shipment volume to 2.2 million units.
