Intel and AMD recently announced a partnership aimed at ensuring software compatibility across a range of chips through the formation of an x86 ecosystem advisory group, as reported by Reuters on October 15. In addition to Intel and AMD, this strategic alliance includes several major industry players such as Microsoft, Google, Meta, Broadcom, Dell, Lenovo, HP, RedHat, and Oracle as founding members.
Taiwan has long been a critical partner for both Intel and AMD, providing cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing through companies like TSMC and ASE Technology. These partnerships enable Intel and AMD to produce advanced chips essential for AI, data centers, and consumer electronics.
According to the Taipei-based Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute (MIC), Taiwan's semiconductor sector is projected to reach a shipment value of NT$4.76 trillion (USD 150.7 billion) in 2024, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 21.3%. This growth is primarily driven by the recovery of mainstream ICT products.
