Global Notebook and Desktop PC Markets Anticipate Modest Year-on-Year Growth in 2024: MIC
December 08, 2023

Looking towards the year 2024, in the midst of ongoing geopolitical uncertainties, major PC brands are projecting cautious consumer spending, according to MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute). However, the commercial PC market is poised to experience positive effects from the introduction of AI PCs and the Windows replacement cycle. This is expected to result in a modest year-on-year growth of 5.8% in the global notebook PC market in 2024, with the market volume reaching approximately 179.1 million units. Simultaneously, the global desktop PC market is forecasted to exhibit a slight year-on-year growth of 1.7%, reaching around 67.970 million units.

When it comes to the outlook for 2024, MIC's findings indicate that the global supply chain shift will create new export opportunities. The main reasons are the US-China tech conflict and geopolitical influences. International branded customers have started to pay attention to the resilience and security of their supply chains, accelerating the global shift to reduce risks. They are gradually relocating production bases from China, resulting in a reduced export proportion from Taiwan to China.
