Chinese automaker BAIC Group and Huawei recently announced that their first jointly branded smart electric car will be debuted at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2021, the Economic Daily News reported on March 3. This new electric car, dubbed ARCFOX αS HBT (Huawei Bluepark Together), will integrate Huawei’s intelligent network and smart electric car solutions with BAIC’s electric cars. The BAIC-Huawei cooperation started in September 2017 by establishing an innovation laboratory in China to develop next generation smart electric cars and technologies.
Besides BAIC, Huawei also entered an agreement with Chery Automobile, another Chinese state-owned carmaker, in last December. Under the agreement, they will collaborate in electric car-related areas such as intelligent connection, intelligence cockpit, autonomous driving, and automotive cloud services. On top of that, they will also join hands in 5G-based applications by developing technologies for use in 5G+V2X, vehicle-infrastructure cooperation, and autonomous driving. Despite so, Huawei reiterated that it will not build own cars but to help carmakers build smart vehicle cars. 
Global new electric car market volume, mainly comprising of battery electric cars and plug-in hybrid electric cars, is estimated to grow by 76.8% to 4.29 million cars in 2021 and reach 15.4 million cars in 2025, according to MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute), a major government think tank and IT research institute in Taiwan.
