ADLink, Institute for Information Industry, and FFG Join Hands for 5G Factory and Autonomous Mobile Robot
February 01, 2021

Taiwan-based ADLink Technology recently announced that the company has partners with FFG (Fair Friend Group), and III (Institute for Information Industry), a major government think tank in Taiwan, with an aim to help manufacturers in APAC regions build their own 5G smart factories, the Commercial Times reported on February 1. The cooperation aims to achieve the so-called swarm autonomy, indicating the autonomous operation, parallel communications, and intelligent collaboration of machines and robots in a smart factory. To achieve this, they will jointly develop the world’s first interconnected private 5G factory and AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot) together with DDS (Direct Digital Synthesis) technology. ADLink provides the world’s first integrated robot controller to help customers develop smart factories that can connect to AMRs, robot arms, and machine centers. Taiwan’s major government think tank III offers its 5G SA (Standalone) private network that enables swarm autonomy and covers three application areas in the trial runs. Meanwhile, FFG also demonstrates its smart factory solution combined with 5G technology solutions and automated optical inspection from ADLink. Global private 5G network market value is estimated to reach US$23.2 billion in 2021 and US$37.5 billion in 2025, according to MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute), a division of III and leading IT research institute in Taiwan.
