Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer Huawei recently announced that the company is to slash 60% to 70% of staff in India, except those in R&D and the global service center, the Commercial Daily News reported on July 28. Meanwhile, since no more orders will be placed by two major telecom operators in India, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea, Huawei has revised down the revenue target for 2020 by up to 50%. This is mainly due to the fact that India joins the U.S. and U.K. in security concerns over equipment provided by Huawei which is believed to have strong links to the Chinese government. Meanwhile, workforce in network support, field deployment, outsourcing and sales department is being impacted majorly.
