Taiwan Mobile Users can Now Pay Phone Bills using Line Pay

 Taiwan Mobile and Line Pay Taiwan recently announced their cooperation, through which Taiwan Mobile phone users can pay their phone bill using Line Pay and receive up to 8% discount, the Economic Daily News reported on June 2. Being the most popular mobile payment app in Taiwan, Line Pay Taiwan had 7.3 million users as of December 2019 with 164,000 merchant partners. During June 3 – July 3, bundling Line Pay with any of credit/debit cards to pay Taiwan Mobile phone bill can receive a 4% discount. In addition, bundling Line Pay with a credit/debit card issued by Fubon Bank can get an extra 4% discount. Taiwan Mobile is the first telecom operator in Taiwan that allows phone bills to be paid via Line Pay app. 

As of December 2019, credit cards registered to Line Pay were up 48% to five million and the number of the transactions via Line Pay also jumped 48% to 210 million. According to MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute), a government think tank and IT research institute in Taiwan, Line Pay is the most popular mobile payment app in Taiwan across all groups aged 18-25, 36-45, 46-55, 56-65, except the group aged 26-35 that prefers Jkos Pay, Taiwan’s homegrown mobile payment app.
