Taiwanese Foxconn recently announced that the company has cooperated with AI chipmaker Hailo and SoC (System on Chip) provider Socionext to launch an edge computing processing solution for video analytics, image classifications, and object segmentations. Through the cooperation, Hailo will supply its Halio-8 deep learning processor with Socionext providing its high-efficiency SoC. The solution is expected to benefit applications in smart cities, smart medical, smart retail, and industrial IoT (Internet of Things), the Economic Daily News reported on May 13. Another Taiwanese IT company ASUS also entered a MoU (Memory of Understanding) with a local hospital Tzu Chi, under which the company will develop a comprehensive AI big-data platform based on data accumulated from seven Tzu Chi hospital branches across Taiwan, the United Daily News reported on May 12.
