Supermicro to Invest US$ 720 Million in Taiwan

Taiwan’s MoEA (Ministry of Economic Affairs) recently announced that it has approved an investment worth of NT$20 billion (US$666.7 million; US$1 = NT$30) and proposed by Supermicro, the Economic Daily News reported on November 14. Pursuant to its plan, the company sets to build a high-end server R&D center and software development facilities, and expand its warehouse and logistics center while increasing automated assembly lines. For this plan, the company will also recruit 1,700 R&D personnel. Thus far, the government’s investment acceleration program has boasted to lure the investment worth NT$49.4 billion from 20 local businesses and create 3,493 jobs.
