Inventec to Set up New Server Factory for US$363 Million

Taiwan-based Inventec recently announced that the company will set up a new server factory in Taoyuan, Taiwan, for US$117.8 million (US$3.89 million; US$1 = NT$30.29), the United Daily News reported on October 4. To mitigate the impact of the US-China trade fight, Taiwanese server makers such as Inventec, Quanta, and Wiwynn have set up their server production lines in Taiwan. In addition, the company will also spend NT$2 billion (US$6.6 million) to expand the production capacity of its Daxi factory to increase its notebook PC production share to 30%, equivalent to 500,000 units per month, up from the current 10%, or 150,000 units. Inventec is major supplier for Dell, HP, and Lenovo and Baidu, Alibaba, and Tencent are also its customers.
