Sharp recently announced that the company has entered into a patent licensing agreement with Samsung, under which Sharp is to license out its SEPs (Standard Essential Patents) to the latter, including LTE (Long Term Evolution), the Economic Daily News reported on September 5. Thus far, Sharp's 3G/4G/5G SEP portfolios include more than 6,000 patents for 3G/4G/5G products. Sharp ranked the third in the world with 495 of approved 5G patents listed in the ETSI database.
