June 19, 2019

The Korea Times reported on June 18 that Samsung Electronics and SK Telecom are posed to cooperate in commercial 5G network upgrade and 6G technology development. Currently, SK Telecom is building additional base stations to expand its nationwide 5G network coverage using equipment from Samsung. Through the partnership, they aim to upgrade 5G technology and increase the adoption of 5G in other areas such as autonomous cars and in-building solutions. Moreover, they will also be dedicated to the development of core technologies and new business models related to 6G. Last week, SK Telecom entered an agreement separately with Nokia and Ericsson, under which they agreed to work together on 6G R&D.
