Chunghwa Telecom, Ericsson Jointly Debut New 5G Service at 2019 Computex Taipei

Taiwan’s telecom operator Chunghwa Telecom recently announced that the company and Ericsson plan to jointly launch a 5G trial network that supports downlink speeds of up to 1Gbps at this year’s Computex held from May 28 to June 1 in Taipei, the Economic Daily News reported on May 26. To meet its goal of launching pre-commercial 5G network in 2020, the company has cooperated closely with international brands like Ericsson to develop 5G technologies and accelerate the construction of 5G base stations. This trial network is a non-standalone network that uses 3.5GHz and 28GHz frequency bands and has completed the interoperability tests with local telecom equipment manufacturers. In addition, the company has also demonstrated several 5G vertical application services such as an intelligent edge datacenter solution, called 5G Intelligent A+ which is designed to meet the diverse requirement of applications in 5G networks such as high broadband bandwidth and low latency.
