Chunghwa Telecom Takes Aim at Smart Home

Taiwan's telecom operator Chunghwa Telecom recently announced that the company will launch a new semantic cloud platform in the second quarter of 2019, the Economic Daily News reported on March 31. The platform can integrate with a MOD (Multimedia-On-Demand) system that will come with a voice-controlled remote controller, providing video conference and sensing services while connecting to smart speakers and different clouds such as health cloud and gas cloud. Chunghwa Telecom stated that it has 100,000 voice-controlled remote controllers ready to be launched along with MOD systems in the second quarter of 2019. Over the years, the company has also conducted interoperability tests with telecom equipment suppliers such as New Kinpo, Compal, ADATA, and Jazz Hipster Corporation and is to reveal its smart speaker partner(s) at the end of April this year.
