Pegatron to Expand Investments in Indonesia

Taiwan's Pegatron, one of the makers of Apple's iPhone, announced yesterday that the company has acquired PT.Pegatron Technology Indonesia for USD 9 million, making it 100% subsidiary of Pegatron, the Economic Daily News reported on March 22. Owing to the US-China trade war, Pegatron's products produced in Southeast Asia factories concentrate mainly on network communications and IoT products, which are or have been most impacted by US tariffs. On top of that, the company's production base located in Batam's Batamindo Industrial Park has started production in April 2019. Batam Development Industrial Authority stated that Pegatron will totally invest USD300 million with an initial investment of USD 40 million in its facilities located in the Industrial Park. Pegatron also plans to set up more production bases in Southeast Asia, including India.
