January 25, 2019

Google recently announced that it will purchase a 10-megawatt solar energy produced from a solar farm in Tainan City to power its datacenter located in Changhua County, Taiwan, the United Daily News reported on January 24. Supported by Taiwan's open regulatory environment, this project has cooperated with other Taiwanese companies such as Diode Ventures, Taiyen Green Energy, J&V Energy, and New Green Power, which will set up 40,000 solar panels for Google to receive electricity through the reginal power grid. This marks the company's first Asia green energy project which not only allows Google to have a long-term stable energy price in Taiwan but also align with its goal of carbon-free energy procurement for all its datacenters worldwide.
