Taiwan's Research Institute ITRI and Kymco Join Hands for AI-powered Electric Scooter

Under the support of Taiwan's MoEA (Ministry of Economic Affairs), Taiwan's leading research institute ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute) has entered an agreement with Kymco to use AI (Artificial Intelligent) technology for Kymco's electric scooters with an aim to reduce their battery meter error rate to below 5%, the Economic Daily News reported on January 22. Under the tie-up, they will jointly share 36 patented technologies associated with power, control, motor cooling, and anti-theft systems used in electric scooters. Scooters featuring this new AI-powered battery meters are expected to hit the market around the end of 2019.
