Qisda and NCKU Join Hands for Smart Campus in Taiwan
November 30, 2018

Taiwan-based Qisda, a spun-off unit of BenQ, recently signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with NCKU (National Cheng Kung University) to develop smart campus in Taiwan, utilizing R&D capabilities of both university and industry sectors, the China Times reported on November 21. Under the MoU, Qisda will help the university implement its AI (Artificial Intelligence) and IoT (Internet of Things) technologies, collectively known as AIoT, to all facilities on the campus. Through a central control platform, access control, security, energy-saving, lighting, air-conditioning systems on the campus can be linked and used more efficiently. For example, an access control system based on the facial recognition technology will enable students to access a room and connects with other systems. AIoT technology can also help realize interactive education by establishing an online discussion and information-sharing platform that enables students to obtain class notes and final grades. This can serve as a testbed for the future of AIoT society in Taiwan.
