PChome to Open its First Unmanned Store in Taipei in 3Q 2019
November 01, 2018

Taiwan-based online retailer PChome recently announced that it will open an unmanned store in Taipei, which is expected tolaunch in the third quarter of 2019, the ET Today reported on October 18. PChome always has plans to launch unmanned stores but has been encountering some technical problems. In the unmanned store, AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) technologies will be used to help boost the customer experience by letting consumers "see" the products they are about to shop goods before actual online purchases. At the initial stage, PChome will sell about 100 to 200 merchants in the store. On top of that, Chinese online retailer Taobao announced in August this year that it would expand its business coverage to include Taiwan.
