Taiwanese Chunghwa Telecom Partnering with US IoT Startup Accelerator Plug and Play

Taiwanese leading telecom operator Chunghwa Telecom recently announced that it has cooperated with a Silicon Valley IoT (Internet of Things) startup accelerator Plug and Play to boost the development of IoT, while extending the reach to cybersecurity, Fintech, and AI (Artificial Intelligence) afterward, the Economic Daily News reported on September 27. Using Plug & Play’s resources, Chunghwa Telecom will launch an internal startup incubator to harness employees' creativity and encourage innovation while deepening its influence in the US market to exploit potential business opportunities. So far, Plug and Play Accelerator has 220 corporate partners and 220 venture capitalists in its ecosystem, and has incubated over 6,000 new startups. Successful investments of Plug and Play include Danger, Dropbox, LendingClub, PayPal, SoundHound, and Zoosk. Futhermore, Chunghwa Telecom plans to send an R&D team over to Plug and Play’s headquarter to exchange proprietary technologies and share the latest updates on new technologies with venture capitalists in the ecosystem.
