Yamaha and Gogoro Join Hands for Electronic Scooters
September 14, 2018

Taiwanese electronic scooter company Gogoro and Yamaha Motor Taiwan, the joint venture set up with Japanese Motorcycle brand Yamaha in 1966, recently announced that they will co-develop new electronic scooters, to be released in 2019 summer, the TechNews reported on September 11. Selling through Yamaha Motor Taiwan's sales channels, new electronic scooters will adopt Gogoro’s battery-swapping system and cloud-based network, and help Gogoro expand production capacity. Under the cooperative contract, to be signed within this year, Gogoro will develop and manufacture Yamaha-branded electronic scooters. Yamaha Motor Taiwan has been dedicated to the development of scooters in Taiwan and has developed its own electronic scooter, dubbed E-Vino, which has also been sold in Japan. Thus far, Gogoro has over 750 battery-swapping stations across Taiwan and expects to have more than 1,000 stations by early 2019. Upon launch, the stations have accumulated over 17 million battery swaps.
