Taiwan's IC testing company KYEC (King Yuan Electronics) plans to build a third fab in Tongluo, Taiwan, which is slated to begin operations in the first quarter of 2020, the China Times reported on April 23. The capacity expansion is carried out to meet the increasing testing demand for AI (Artificial Intelligence), IoT (Internet of Things), MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems), mobile communications, gaming, and automotive electronics, as well as the outsourcing demand from IDMs (Integrated Device Manufacturers). For the third fab, the company will hire additional 1,000 employees and install additional 800 to 1,000 new testing equipment. KYEC’s total investment for three fabs has reached about USD 330 million.
