Alibaba's Entrepreneurs Fund formally announced that more than 70% of its invested startups in Taiwan have been in the areas of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and e-commerce over the past two years, according to United Daily News on March 6. Compared to Hong Kong where the innovation tends to focus on business models, Taiwan tends to emphasize more on innovations targeting hardware. Established in 2015, the Fund for Taiwan injected into 9 local startups in the first year and up to 13 in 2017. To expand the fund coverage, the Fund is to seek more startups in AI, gaming, entertainment, and e-commerce sectors this year. The 13 invested startups are 4Gamers, Adenovo, Citiesocial, CocoMelody, HowLiving, Kneron, Kloudless, Morning Shop, Opaque Studios, Platina, Pluvio, SpaceCycle and Umbo.
