Following its announcement of the completion of reconstruction, Renesas Electronics is set to expand its foothold in China by doubling the number of its R&D staff dedicated to the Chinese market development to 100 within two years, according to Nikkei on December 4. In anticipation of an escalating growth of electric vehicle and IoT (Internet of Things) in China, Renesas also announced in May that it would cooperate with the Great Wall Motor to establish a R&D team for electric vehicles and autonomous driving technology and has set up a new R&D base exclusively for electric vehicle in November. Thus far, there are about 400 personnel at its R&D base in China. With China taking up 20% of its revenue share, only next to Japan, Renesas has spared no efforts to make 10% year-on-year growth in China a reality.
