August 20, 2017
Chinese BOE Technology recently announced that it plans to build the second 10.5G in Wuhan for 46 billion RMB (USD6.9 billion) XCNews.com reported on August 14. Financially supported by Wuhan Municipal government, and Hubei Yangtze River Economic Belt Industry Fund, the new facility will begin construction in the fourth quarter of 2017, slated for operations within a year. Upon completion, it will initially produce 120,000 65" LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panels using substrates sized 2,940mm by 3,370mm every month. In addition, BOE's first 10.5G plant located in Hefei, Anhui, has started operations on June 26 this year and is set to churn out panels toward the end of 2017. With the addition of these two new facilities, the company aims to outperform LG Display and become the world's largest panel maker by 2020.
