Taiwan to Kick-start Five-year AI Initiative for Over USD160 Million

Taiwan's MoST (Ministry of Science and Technology) recently announced that it will launch an initiative to set up three to four AI R&D centers for USD164 million in next five years, Economic Daily News reported on July 6. By consolidating resources of the academia, research, and government sectors, the Ministry boasts to build a complete AI supply chain by convening over 300 AI experts to develop AI core technologies and applications and incubate over 3,000 AI talents. Aside from this initiative, the Ministry also unveiled its plans in March and May, respectively, for an independent Taiwan AI lab and two AI Robot Maker Spaces, to be located in central and southern Taiwan.
