Huawei recently partnered with Vodafone to test the latest 4.5G (TDD+) technology together, with an aim to improve capacity and efficiency of their 4G network in urban areas and launch 5G by 2020, according to Chinatimes.com on August 2. During the trials, Huawei and Vodafone will use 4x4 MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) techniques to improve the efficiency of mobile data transmission and collect the signal of mobile data transmission. Those techniques can improve the average efficiency of data transmission and thus support the growing demand for video and VR (Virtual Reality) applications which are expected to come with the next generation smartphones.
