Compal is upbeat about its tablet business in 2016, expecting to see a 30% increase in the 20 million tablets shipped this year, thanks to the company's growing share in iPad mini contract manufacturing orders, reported Commercial Times on November 13. As for the smartphone business, the company is going to launch production lines in India in 1Q16 with a production capacity of 200,000 units a month. Following Foxconn and Inventec, Compal will be the third Taiwanese contract makers taking part in the "Make in India" initiative. Compal has shipped around 30 million smartphones so far this year. The company projects a single-digit growth in smartphone shipments in 2016.
