Foxconn is said to invest 28 billion RMB (US$4.4 billion; US$1=6.37 RMB) in constructions of a Gen-6 LTPS (Low Temperature Polycrystalline Silicon) factory in Zhengzhou, the capital of China's inland province Henan, according to the local news agency Dong Fang Jin Bao on November 9. Foxconn-owned Ying Hui Limited signed the investment agreement with the authority of Zhengzhou Economic Development last week. The plant is slated to launch operation in 2017 and begin volume production in 2018, with a production capacity of 20,000 units per month. Around 70% of the capacity will be used to supply flat screens for Apple iPhone in the future, said the report.
