August 21, 2015

Acer announced that it has been picked by Chile government as the sole supplier of over 75,000 notebook PCs for the country's education project "I Select My PC," reported Taiwan's Commercial Times on August 21. Launched in 2008, the project aims to bridge the digital divide in Chile, giving students from disadvantaged socio-economic segments. Aside from the notebook PC, the students will also receive a backpack, tracking software with anti-theft protection, Microsoft Office suite, and one year of unlimited internet access, said the company. This year is the second phase of the project, dubbed "Connected for Learning," which extends to all seventh grade pupils in public primary schools in Chile.
