Innolux to Launch Volume Production of New 8.6G Facilities in 3Q16
June 08, 2015
In a recent investor conference, Innolux announced a NT$35 billion (US$1.1 billion; US$1=30.911) investment plan this year: a joint venture with Foxconn to construct 6G LTPS (Low Temperature Poly-silicon) production lines with a monthly capacity of 23,000 to 24,000 glass substrates, and a 8.6G plant with a monthly capacity of around 40,000 glass substrates. The 6G LTPS plant will begin operation by end-2015 while the 8.6G plant will go into mass production by 3Q16. Glass substrates used in the 8.6G fab are sized 2250mm by 2600mm, and will be mainly used to produce 50" and 58" panels. Innolux is planning to introduce new sizes, 45" and 50", to fight against the booming 43" and 49" trend, respectively.
