The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) said that Taiwan's exports totaled US$107.4 billion in 1Q15, up 2.5% year-on-year, registering a new first-quarter export record, reported China Times on April 21. The growth mainly came from robust exports of branded mobile handheld devices, tablets, and machine tools. By sector, ICT products amounted to US$29.7 billion in 1Q15; electronic products arrived at US$27.3 billion; machine products reached around US$5.4 billion. Looking ahead to 2Q15, as the second quarter is typically off season for the IT industry, MOEA takes a more conservative attitude toward the country's export performance.
