The Ministry of Science and Technology reported that the overall shipment value of Taiwan's three science parks (Hsinchu Science Park, Central Taiwan Science Park, and Southern Taiwan Science Park) in 2014 grew by 6.28% year on year to reach NT$2.32 trillion (US$74.8 billion; US$1=NT$31.088), registering a new high in history, according to Commercial Times on April 17. In particular, communications, IC, and precision machinery sectors rose 18.5%, 14%, and 7% year on year, respectively. With a positive outlook for economic recovery and increasing production orders, overall shipment value of the science parks is expected to move toward NT$2.47 trillion (US$79.4 billion) this year.
