September 16, 2014

MIC (Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute), a Taipei-based ICT research institute, said that the worldwide notebook PC shipments is expected to reach 299 million and 295 million units in 2014 and 2015, down 0.1% and 1.2%, respectively, due to the slowdown in both commercial market replacement demand and market expansion, reported United Evening News on September 16. MIC forecast that shipment share of Taiwanese notebook PCs will retreat to 83.6% this year, from last year's 86.9%, and further down to 79.6% in 2015. Meanwhile, shipment share of Taiwanese tablets will also decline to 35.4% this year and 33.6% in 2015.
