Quanta Computer told a press conference that it expects to ship 25 million to 26 million notebook PCs in the second half of 2014, up 12% to 17% against the 22 million units the company shipped in the past six months ended in June, reported Central News Agency on August 14. The company's first and second half shipment share is estimated at 46% and 54%, respectively. Quanta attributed the rosy outlook in the notebook PC industry in the second half to the slowdown in tablet eroding the notebook PC segment, more low-cost models to be available, and the to-be-unleashed replacement demand. Overall, the company anticipates a flat growth or slight decline in notebook PC shipments in the whole year.
