Strong demand for UHD (Ultra High Definition) TV panels has prompted Innolux to consider the possibility of expanding capacity for the first time in several years, reported Taipei Times on July 29. Currently, the company is running at full capacity to meet the vigorous demand while a tight supply for notebook PC, monitor, and TV panels is anticipated to continue in the second half of the year. The panel maker has earmarked NT$20 billion (US$668 million; US$1=NT$30.011) for new facilities and equipment this year. In the second quarter of 2014, large-area TV panels accounted for 32% of Innolux's total revenue, up from 29% in the first quarter.
