Taiwan Star Cellular, a newcomer in Taiwan's telecom market, announced a strategic alliance with Korean telecom operator LG U+ for 4G network deployment, network optimization, value-added mobile services, and sales channels in Taiwan, reported China Times on June 25. Taiwan Star Cellular is said to launch its 4G networks as soon as in July, following the market leaders Chunghwa Telecom, Far Eastone, and Taiwan Mobile. The company aims to provide 95% population coverage of its 4G networks by the end of this year. To jump-start its telecom business, Taiwan Star Cellular acquired Vibo Telecom in April, a 3G telecom operator with some 1.8 million subscribers in Taiwan.
