Sino-American Silicon Products Inc. (SAS) had finalized the acquisition of German solar company Aleo Solar AG through its subsidiaries SCP Solar GmbH, which is the first overseas transaction in the history of Taiwan's solar PV (Photovoltaics) industry, according the company's announcement on May 19. According to the deal, SAS has acquired Aleo Solar's PV module facility in Prenzlau, including an annual production capacity of 280 MW, patents, trademarks, and 180 employees. SCP will change name to Aleo Solar GmbH and begin production of 285 to 295 W PV modules consisted of 60 monocrystalline silicon solar cells. Aleo Solar AG will be renamed AS Abwicklung und Solar-Service AG and continue to be responsible for the maintenance service for sold PV modules.
