Due to the stimulus provided by Acer and Asus, worldwide netbook PC shipment volume in the third quarter of 2008 increased significantly compared to the second quarter. Shipment volume in the third quarter is estimated at 4.09 million units, up 226.8% sequentially. It is expected that shipment volume in the fourth quarter will exceed five million units, growing 25% sequentially. The shipment volume in the full-year 2008 is expected to amount to approximately 11 million units. This report examines key developments in the netbook PC sector in the third quarter of 2008, and provides a forecast for the fourth quarter of 2008 and 2009.
